Thick and Toasty Granny Stitch Beanie

This beanie is made with Lion Brand Hometown yarn in Phoenix Azalea

This beanie is made with rows of granny stitches in the body of the hat with size 6 (super bulky) weight yarn.

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sk st – skip stitch 

granny stitch – 3 double crochet in the same space

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch

YO – yarn over

Using size 6 yarn (super bulky) with a N-15 (10 mm) needle to make a large beanie (18-19 inch circumference and 9 inch high)

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 9 dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (10 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (20 dc) 

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (30 dc)

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 2 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (40 dc)

Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (40 dc)

Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), sk 1, granny stitch, sk 2 st, then {granny stitch in next stich, sk 2 st} all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (40 stitches)

Row 7 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), granny stitch in between each granny stitch in the row below all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc  (40 stitches)

Row 8-10 – repeat Row 7 (40 stitches)

Row 11 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each stitch of the row below to the end.  Join with sl st to the first dc.  (40 dc)

Row 12 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off (40 sc)
