Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end. Join with sl st to first dc. (36 dc)
Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 3 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 4 st, 2 dc in the next st dc in the next 3 st} to the end. Join with sl st to first dc (44 dc)
Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the next st, ch 1 and sk the next st, dc in the next 3 st, then repeat {ch 1 and sk the next st, dc in the next 3 st} all the way around. Join with sl st to first dc. (44 dc) Change to GREEN yarn.
Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the next st, long dc in the next st, dc in the next 3 st, then repeat {long dc in the next st, dc in the next 3 st} all the way around. Join with sl st to first dc. (44 dc)
Row 7 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in each st all the way around. Join with sl st to first dc (44 dc)
Row 8-12 – repeat row 7 (44 dc)
Row 12 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end. Join with st to the first sc and fasten off. (44 sc)
Ears (make 2 in GRAY)
Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring
Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as the first sc in this row), 5 sc in the ring. Join with sl st to first sc. (6 sc)
Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as the first sc in this row), sc in the same st as joining and then 2 sc in each stitch all the way around. Join with sl st to first sc. (12 sc)
Row 3 – ch 2 ( this counts as the first sc in this row), 2sctog all the way around. Join with sl st to first sc. (6 sc)
Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as the first sc in this row), sc in each stitch all the way around. Join with sl st to the first sc (6 sc)
Row 5-6 – repeat row 5 (6 sc). Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
EYES (make 2 in WHITE)
Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.
Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 11 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. (12 dc)
Putting it together:
- Sew Ears on each side of beanie at Row 7
- Sew Eyes symmetrically between Rows 8-9 and apply Black Puffy paint at center.
