
This beanie is made with rows of criss cross stitches (x) and puff stitches (o) the body of the beanie.
Stitches used:
ch- chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
crisscross – sk 1 stitch and dc in the next, then dc into the skipped st
Puffed stitch –
ch 2, yarn over and insert hook to the same stitch, pull yarn through, yarn over and insert hook into the same stitch, pull yarn through, yarn over and interest hook into the same stitch, pull yarn through, and then pull yarn through all 7 loops
sk st – skip stitch
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
Using size 6 yarn (super bulky) with a N-15 (10 mm) needle to make a large beanie (18-19 inch circumference and 9 inch high)
Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.
Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 9 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to first dc (9 dc)
Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end. Join with sl st to first dc. (18 dc)
Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end. Join with sl st to first dc. (27 dc)
Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 2 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st} to the end. Join with sl st to first dc (36 dc)
Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), criss cross stitch all the way around. Join with sl st to first dc. (36 stitches)
Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each stitch of the row below to the end. Join with sl st to the first dc. (36 dc)
Row 7 – ch 3 (this counts as your first dc of this row plus first ch), sk next st, Puff stitch in next st, ch 1, then repeat {sk 1 st, Puff stitch in the next st, ch 1} to the end. Join with sl st to first dc. (36 stitches)
Row 8 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each stitch of the row below to the end. Join with sl st to the first dc. (36 dc)
Row 9-10 – repeat Rows 5 and 6 (36 stitches)
