Smooth and Shiny Single Wave Stripe Beanie

This beanie was made with Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Teal Zeal Ombre

This beanie is made with rows of wave stitches and double crochet stitches over the body of the beanie.

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sk – skip

st – stitch

Hat Sizes:

X-small – 8” long and 17” flat circumference

Small – 8” long and 18” flat circumference

Medium – 8.5” long and 19” flat circumference

Large – 8.5” long and 20” flat circumference

Using size 4 yarn (worsted or medium weight yarn) with a K-10.5 (6.5 mm) needle.  

Follow sizing by order in parentheses – (x-small, small, medium, large)

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row) and then 11 (12,13,14)  dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (12,13,14,15 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (24, 26, 28, 30 dc) 

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (36, 39, 42, 45 dc)

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 2 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), dc in the next stitch all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc.  Join with sl st to first dc.  (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), 3 dc in the same st as joining, sk 2 st, sc in the next st, then {ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), 3 dc in the same st, sk 2 st, sc in the next st} all the way around.  Ch 2 and join with sl st to the first dc.  (48, 52, 56, 60 stitches)

Row 7 – ch 1 and sc in the first st of the row below, ch 3, sc on the top of the first dc of the next wave, then {ch 3, sc on the top of the first dc of the next wave} all the way around.  Sc in the last ch 2 and join with sl st to the first dc.   (48, 52, 56, 60 stitches)

Row 8 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc each stitch all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 9-17 – repeat Rows 6,7,8.  (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 18 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with st to the first sc and fasten off.  (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)
