Sometimes, a Size 6 (super bulky) yarn can feel like a Size 5 (bulky) yarn or vice versa. Here are a couple of suggestions for a Thick and Toasty HDC Mesh Striped Beanie made with either a Size 5 (bulky) yarn or a Size 6 (super bulky) that really should have been labeled a Size 5!

This beanie is made with rows of HDc and ch 1 spaces (to create a mesh like effect) in between rows of double crochet in the body of the hat.
Stitches used:
ch- chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
Using a thicker size 5 yarn (bulky) or thin size 6 yarn (super bulky) with an L-11 (8 mm) needle to make a large beanie (20 inch circumference and 9 inch high)
