
This beanie is made with rows granny square stitches in the body of the hat, alternating rightside up and upside down, to create an hourglass shape
Stitches used:
ch- chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
granny stitch – 3 double crochet in the same space
3dctog – crochet 3 double stitches together
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
Hat Sizes:
X-small – 8” long and 17” flat circumference
Small – 8” long and 18” flat circumference
Medium – 8.5” long and 19” flat circumference
Large – 8.5” long and 20” flat circumference
Using size 4 yarn (worsted or medium weight yarn) with a K-10.5 (6.5 mm) needle.
Follow sizing by color – x-small, small, medium, large
Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.
Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 11 (12,13,14) dc into the ring. Join with sl st to first dc (12,13,14,15 dc)
Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end. Join with sl st to first dc. (24, 26, 28, 30 dc)

Row 14 (for XS and S) and Row 15 (for M and L) – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end. Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)
TIP: Have extra spaces due to sizing? Fill them with dc in each space. Just make sure you keep the total number of stitches consistent for each round to maintain sizing.
