Pinecone Beanie

This beanie is made with Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Cafe

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

shell – skip 2 stitches, 5 dc in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, sc in the stitch

Front loop – the loop of the stitch facing outside of the beanie

Back loop – the loop of the stitch facing inside the beanie

sk st – skip stitch

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch

Using size 4 yarn (worsted or medium weight yarn) with a K-10.5 (6.5 mm) needle in BROWN (or color of your choice)

BEANIE (7ā€ high and 16ā€ flat diameter)

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 11 dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (12 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), working on the front loops of the st below, 3 shells all the way around.  

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), working on the back loops of the st below, dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (24 dc) 

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), working on the front loops of the st below, 6 shells all the way around.  

Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), working on the back loops of the st below, dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (36 dc)

Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), working on the front loops of the st below, 9 shells all the way around.  

Row 7 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), working on the back loops of the st below, dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 3 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 4 st, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 3 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (44 dc)

Row 8 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), working on the front loops of the st below, 11 shells all the way around.  

Row 9 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), working on the back loops of the st below, dc in each st all the way around to the end. Join with sl st to first dc. (44 dc). 

Row 10-13 – repeat Rows 8-9  (44 stitches)

Row 14 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st all the way around to the end. Join with sl st to first dc. (44 dc). 

Row 15 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to the first sc and fasten off.  (44 sc)
