Sheep Beanie

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

Puffed stitch –

ch 2, yarn over and insert hook to the same stitch, pull yarn through, yarn over and insert hook into the same stitch, pull yarn through, yarn over and interest hook into the same stitch, pull yarn through, and then pull yarn through all 7 loops

sk st – skip stitch

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch

Using size 4 yarn (worsted or medium weight yarn) with a J-10 (6.0 mm) needle in CREAM OR TWEED 

BEANIE (6.5” high and 15” flat diameter)

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 11 dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (12 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (24 dc) 

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (36 dc)

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 3 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 4 st, 2 dc in the next st dc in the next 3 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (44 dc)

Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), puff stitch in the next sp, ch 1 and sk next st, then repeat {puff stitch in the next st, ch 1 and sk next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc.  (44 stitches)

Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), ch 1 and sk st below, puff stitch in the ch 1 space below, then repeat {ch 1 and sk st below, puff stitch in the ch 1 space below} all the way around (44 stitches)

Row 7-10 – repeat rows 5 and 6  (44 stitches)

Row 11 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to the first sc and fasten off.  (44 sc)

EARS (make 2 in LIGHT BROWN and 2 in CREAM/TWEED)

Ch 8 

Row 1 – count the first 2 ch as the first dc of this row, 2 dc in the 2nd ch from the hook, dc in the next 4 st, 6 dc in the last ch, then working on the opposite side of the chain, dc in the next 4 st, 3 dc in the last ch.  Join with sl st to the first dc and fasten off. (20 st)

Row 2 – joining the two different colored ears together, sc through each st in both ear pieces all the way around.  Join with sl st to the first sc and fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing (20 st) 

Putting it together:

• Sew Ears on each side of beanie at Row 4
