Smooth and Shiny Increasing Sc Stripes Beanie (thick)

This beanie is made with Lion Brand Landscapes fusion yarn in Flushing Meadows

This beanie is made by increasing rows of single crochet in the body of the hat.

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stich

st – stitch

Hat Sizes:

Small – 8” long and 18” flat circumference

Medium – 8.5” long and 19” flat circumference

Large – 8.5” long and 20” flat circumference

Using size 5 yarn (bulky) or a narrow size 6 yarn (super bulky) with a L-11 (8 mm) needle 

Follow sizing by order in parentheses – small, medium, large

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 9,(10,11)  dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (10,11,12 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (20, 22, 24 dc) 

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (30, 33, 36 dc)

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 2 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (40, 44, 48 dc)

Row 5 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st all the way around.  Join with sl st to the first dc space.  (40, 44, 48 dc)

Row 6 – ch 2 ( this counts as your first sc of this row), sc in each st all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to the first sc space.  (40, 44, 48 sc)

Row 7 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st all the way around.  Join with sl st to the first dc space.  (40, 44, 48 dc)

Row 8-9 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), sc in each st all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to the first sc space.  (40, 44, 48 sc)

Row 10 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st all the way around.  Join with sl st to the first dc space.  (40, 44, 48 dc)

Row 11-13 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), sc in each st all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to the first sc space.  (40, 44, 48 sc)

Row 14 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st all the way around.  Join with sl st to the first dc space.  (40, 44, 48 dc)

Row 15-18 – ch 2 (this counts as your first sc of this row), sc in each st all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to the first sc space.  (40, 44, 48 sc)

Row 19-20 (for S only) and Row 19-21 (for M and L) – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each st  all the way around.  Join with sl st to the first ch 2 space.  (40, 44, 48 dc)

Row 21 (for S) or 22 (for M and L) – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off (40, 44, 48 sc)
