Smooth and Shiny Increasing SC Stripes Beanie

This beanie is made with Loops and Threads Soft and Shiny yarn in Cobalt Blue

This beanie is made increasing rows of single crochet and double crochet in the body of the hat.

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stich

st – stitch

Hat Sizes:

X-small – 8” long and 17” flat circumference

Small – 8” long and 18” flat circumference

Medium – 8.5” long and 19” flat circumference

Large – 8.5” long and 20” flat circumference

Using size 4 yarn (worsted or medium weight yarn) with a K-10.5 (6.5 mm) needle.  

Follow sizing by order in parentheses – x-small, small, medium, large

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 11 (12,13,14)  dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (12,13,14,15 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (24, 26, 28, 30 dc) 

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (36, 39, 42, 45 dc)

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 2 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 5-6 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each sti all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 7 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc. (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)

Row 8 –  ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each sti all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 9-10 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc. (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)

Row 11 –  ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each sti all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 12-14 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc. (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)

Row 15 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each sti all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 16-19 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc. (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)

Row 20-21 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in each sti all the way around.  Join with sl st to first dc (48, 52, 56, 60 dc)

Row 22 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off (48, 52, 56, 60 sc)
