Thick and Toasty Waves Beanie

This beanie is made with Bernat Blanket yarn in Country Blue

This beanie is made with wave stitches in the body of the hat.

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sk st – skip stitch 

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch

Using size 6 yarn (super bulky) with a N-15 (10 mm) needle to make a large beanie (20 inch circumference and 9 inch high)

Ch 4 and loop to make a magic ring.

Row 1 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row) and then 8 dc into the ring.  Join with sl st to first dc (9 dc)

Row 2 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in the same st as joining, and then 2 dc in each stitch all the way around to end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (18 dc) 

Row 3 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc. (27 dc)

Row 4 – ch 2 (this counts as your first dc of this row), dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 2 st, then repeat {2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 st} to the end.  Join with sl st to first dc (36 dc)

Row 5 – ch 2, dc in each stitch of the row below to the end.  Join with sl st to the first dc.  (36 dc)

Row 6 – ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), 3 dc in the same st as joining, sk 2 st, sc in the next st, then {ch 2 (this counts as the first dc of this row), 3 dc in the same st, sk 2 st, sc in the next st} all the way around.  Ch 2 and join with sl st to the first dc.  (36 stitches)

Row 7 – ch 1 and sc in the first st of the row below, ch 3, sc on the top of the first dc of the next wave, then {ch 3, sc on the top of the first dc of the next wave} all the way around.  Sc in the last ch 2 and join with sl st to the first dc.  (36 stitches)

Row 8-11 – repeat Row 6 and 7 (36 stitches)

Row 12 – ch 2, dc in each stitch of the row below to the end.  Join with sl st to the first dc.  (36 dc)

Row 13 – ch 1 (this counts as your first sc of the row), sc in each stitch all the way around to the end.  Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off (36 sc)
